Spa for the girls and kayaking for the boys

Hello,

Today the boys and girls of the family did different things so this blog post is written in two parts (girls pink, boys blue). The girls went to a Nordic spa in Stoneham and the boys went for 7km/4 miles kayak down the Jaques-Cartier river. No cameras so no pictures today sorry.

Today Mum and I went to a Nordic spa in Stoneham where we are staying. It had 2 hot water spas, 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms, relaxation rooms and hammocks. It was nice and quiet so it was really peaceful and relaxing. It was right in the mountains down by the lake. Me and Mum swam in the freezing cold lake then quickly got out and ran into the sauna which was lovely and refreshing. That was our favourite bit and we did it just before we had to go and pick the boys up. It was nice to have some girly time. Neve x

Today Dad and I went kayaking along the Jaques Cartier river. It wasn't quite the same as we did with Neve as it had rapids, obstacles such as rocks and twigs and we were going down stream rather than up stream. In the route there were two level two rapids and one level one rapid. Level one normally meant the water was choppy and there were no stones or twigs. Level two meant there were small and medium sized bumps and very small waves and had quite a few obstacles. We didn't get that wet but in the second level two rapid I got drenched and Dad got slightly wet because we went straight through a small wave and we almost capsized in that same rapid. It was great fun and I would love to do that again on another holiday. Euan x

  1. That worked out very well with something to please everyone! The spa was an ideal place for girly time - nice and relaxing, made you feel good. Just what was needed after the recent action days. Well done girls!

I'm glad I wasn't there to watch the kayaking, it may have been great fun for you but I would have been scared out of my mind when you nearly capsized. You enjoyed getting drenched didn't you Euan! Well done boys! We didn't really need pictures today as you described everything very well. Thank you Neve and Euan, Lots of love, Grandma & Grandpa xx

  2. Wish I could do pink and blue to comment, but I can't so you'll have to pretend!

Neve - glad you and Mum had a relaxing time after all your activities. Sounds like a beautiful place. I could have just sat and looked at the scenery as spas etc aren't my thing - or I could have got my paint box out!

Euan - what fun you and Dad had. Like Grandma glad I wasn't watching! You certainly know how to have an active holiday. There can't be many activities you haven't tried - if there are I'm sure you'll find them over the next few years!

Thank you both so much for keeping us up to date - I'm part there - part Godalming each day! Looking forward to the next post - I'm surprised (and pleased!) you have time with your busy schedule! Lots of love to you all - N & G xx
