The blog is back!
Today we went to Dresden which was great! We started by going up the Frauenkirche (the church in Dresden) and getting a beautiful view over the city and it's surroundings. It was lovely to get some fresh air - city style - and be able to see the main sites of Dresden.We were then going to go inside but there was a wedding so we had a drink outside followed by a trip to the shopping mall for a bit of relaxation (Neve and Mum style!). I picked up a skort (skirt/shorts) from Hollister (that dark shop in Guildford, Nanny, not sure I've seen one in Merry Hill, Grandma?) and Euan got a top.
We then went back to the church and had an audio guide inside which told us about it's history. It was the church that was demolished in WWII and then left in rubble for over 40 years. A little bit of history and a little bit of shopping - perfect!
After a drink and ice-cream in the 'trendy' part of the Dresden we came home for dinner. Then we sat outside as it has been a bit cooler this afternoon after another scorching hot day. However, don't be fooled into thinking that this was relaxing as soon Dad, Euan and I found ourselves in a huge water fight with each other. I personally think I should be the winner but that is subject to much debate!

Hello, another very busy interesting day and you are learning all the time which is great. Glad you were able to fit in a trip to the shops - a girl needs a bit of retail therapy! I think there is a Hollister in Birmingham but don't know of one in Merry Hill ( bet you look lovely in a skort!) About that water fight I'm pretty sure it would have ended in a draw - the males in our family are very competitive. We keep going back to take another look at your lovely photos Euan. ReplyDeleteWhat a great day you've had. I've seen pictures of Dresden (our Opera teacher has been to the Opera House there) and it looks lovely. Glad you had a lovely time there and the trip to Hollister must have been a bonus if you could find your way around in the dark! We've had a hot day too but not as hot as you've had. Expect that water fight cooled you down if it wasn't too energetic. After a trip to Guildford I sat in the shade whilst Grandad did a bit of "pottering" in the garden and garage. We've had our twice weekly trip to the tip and there's still more to go! AJ's coming tomorrow - she's been to see Eve and Gary, the happy engaged couple,, and met more of the Engelbert family.
