A walk in Cassis then a lie on the beach!

Hello!

Today we went to Cassis again but today we went on a walk which lead us to a lovely beach. On the beach we ate our lunch and read our books which was really relaxing. Then dad and I swam in the sea whilst Mum had a paddle. The sea was really nice and blue and it was really nice and warm. We then went to a lovely cafe that looked out on the beach where I had a mint lemonade which I had tried before on the French exchange. The picture below is of me drinking it. We had another lovely day today and thank you for the comment again.

Today - Marseille

Hello again!

Today the weather was not supposed to be too good so we decided to visit some of the local attractions (In the end the weather was lovely though!). First we visited a place called Notre-Dame de la Garde which is a cathedral that has a really good view of Marseille, the old port and the sea. We then had some lunch and I had a crepe for dessert! We then went on to a modern art gallery by the port and we saw some really interesting art/sculptures aswell as a painting of cassis which is the place we visited the other day. After this it was still nice and warm so we sat out and had a drink and then we then went to a bar where we had tapas which we had also been to yesterday. We had a lovely day. Yesterday - Cezanne

Hello!

Yesterday we went to the place where Cezanne grew up and painted. Our day didn't go as we planned it because a lot of things are closed on a Monday but we still had a good time. We followed a walk which took us past places that were relevant to Cezanne but we didn't finish it. We then went to the studio that Cezanne had built for him and got to see some of the objects that were in his famous paintings like a green and brown jug and a rug. It was really fascinating! I will now write about the day we had today on another blog post.

Today - Casisse

Hello again :)

Today we went to a nice seaside place called Casisse. We sat on the beach for a while even thought it was quite cool but it was still nice and relaxing. Then Mum and I went for a paddle in the sea which wasn't as cold as I thought it would be! Then we walked into the town and I had an ice cream. We have just come back to the appartment for a bit and then we are going to go back to the old port for some dinner which will be lovely.

First day in Marseille

Hello :)

I didn't have time yesterday to write a blog post yesterday so I am going to do 2 today.

During the day we went and looked at Marseille and went down to the old port where we saw a a couple that had just got married. In Marseille we had lunch at a nice resturant where we could see out onto the city. At one point an organ was playing which was lovely!

In the evening dad and I wnt to a football match where Marseille were playing the team that we watched Lyon play last holiday. At the game there was a protest going on because Marseille are not doing as well as they should be in the league. The fans did not sing or cheer the team to show they were they even booed the team/ players onto the pitch which me and dad found surprising! In the end they did win 2-0 and the fans did cheer when they scored.

We had a lovely day and really got a feel for Marseille.

Last blog post

Hello! Unfortunately this is my last blog post but first I will tell you about today.

Today we went to the lake with the diving board as it is our last full day. First of all me, Mum and Euan had a great time pushing eachother off a platform in the lake! Whilst we were doing this we noticed the other people on the platform were also English so Euan had someone to play with on the sand! I then had a nice lie down in the sun and read my book. Then me, Dad and Euan went to the platform after Euan had jumped off the diving board a few times (I didn't though!). When we were on the platform Dad chucked me and Euan off lots of times and then watched us dive off. We had a great time messing around and the weather was hot so we could dry off quickly afterwards. Neve :)

I am really going to miss doing the blog. I love getting your comments and sharing our holiday with you. We have had a fabulous holiday and been some really lovely places. Walking in the mountains and then having a crepe!

Hello again. Today we went for a walk in the mountains. (We were going to go to the lake where the diving board was but the weather wasn't warm enough.) We didn't really know where we were going to end up but we were hoping for a cafe. We had a lovely walk and it was not too steep and what made us really happy was that we found the cafe. Here is a picture:



Euan and I had a diet coke and a chocolate crepe, Dad had an ice cream and a lemonade and Mum had a beer.

The walk took us 1 and a half hours to get there and only 10 - 15 minutes to get back because we took a shortcut!!! Thanks again for your comments. Neve :)

Football match

Hello. As I said me and Dad went to a football match yesterday. We watched a team called Olympique Lyonnais. They are in the top league in France. In the end they drew 1-1 which is like Westbrom drawing against Man U (Man U being Olympique Lyonnais!). It was an good match and I bought a flag as a souvenir. No pictures-sorry forgot to take my camera in with me! Neve :)

The funicular

Hello again.

Today we cycled to a funicular that goes up a mountain. We got on the funicular and I found myself quite scared because it was very steep. When we got to the top the view was really nice. We then found out we could watch people paragliding off the mountain. Here are 2 pictures...

It was fascinating watching them run off the edge but also very scary when one or two did not take off propperly and had to pull there parachute down. Nobody was hurt though!

May have time to write about tomorrow tomorrow but me and Dad are going to a football maatch and might be back late. Neve :)

Not Alp D'Huez!!!

Hello. As I said we were back late yesterday so I am going to write about it now.

In the morning we just relaxed as it was very warm at the house. Then after we had some lunch me, Dad and Euan dropped mum off at the spa and we went up a mountain in the car. (We did not go to Alp D'Huez because it would take too long.) We walked to the top and got a great view of all the mountains nearby including Mont Blanc. Then we went the wrong way on our way back so we decided to take a short cut instead of walking all the way back. This is a picture of our shortcut!!! (The path between the trees.)

We then drove back to the lake we have been to before and had a mess around and re-built our moat. We then met up with mum and me and Euan had an ice-cream. We had a lovely day!

The Walshathlon!

Today we went for a bike ride, a walk and a swim. We cycled to a fort which was made 500 year ago. We had to pay 15 euros each to get in so we just walked round the outside. We also had to walk from the bikes to the fort so we saw some vinards and we could see Alp Duez in the distance. Here is a picture that Euan took.

We then cycled back to the swimming pool we went to on the first day. It was cold in the swimming pool so it was nice to go in after being really hot. We then went for a drink at a bar where we are staying.

Tomorrow we are going to have more of a relaxing day and then go to Alp Duez whilst Mum goes to a spa. Might not have time tomorrow as we will be back late but I will let you know what we got up to at a later date. Thanks again for your comments. Neve :)

Just a few words

Euan has done a blog post so I will sum up what I thourght today just to add. We had a really good day and it has been really warm which was nice when we went for the walk and when we paddled in the lake. Thanks for your comments - Euan also loved getting his and now wants to write more. Neve :)

Euan's other blog post!

Hi it's Euan again! Today we went on a walk to a lake which you could swim in. Me and Neve dug out "E AND N" in the sand and filled it with water and let it dry out so it became muddy and stood out. We also made a Moat with Mum.

First of all we went to a crapery that was reccomended to us. We saw a lizard and a few Geccos. Thanks for the comments! From Euan. :)

Today - scootering

Just a few lines to add to what Euan said. Today we went scootering and Dad and I did it for 1 hour and Euan did it for 2 hours!!! We had a great time and here is a picture.

Euan's blog post!

Hi this is Euan. The forcast was pointing to storms the last two days but it turned out to be hot.

Today we did some scooting on big, chunky scooters down ski slopes. There was a big drag lift that pulled you right to the top. There were 3 slopes. The man that did it also did skate-boarding lessons and in the winter skiing lessons. We think he did paragliding lessons too. From Euan :)

Petanque and the castle

Hello. I am just going to do a short blog post as we are about to play cards but this is what we did today.

First of all we went to a Petanque competition which was very French and then me and mum cycled back and had a look in the local Church; it was very beautiful.

We then went for a small walk to the castle (the picture is above) and then carried on walking back to the house. it took about half an hour and we are going to go back another day and go inside. Neve :)

High ropes and fireworks

Hello, got back at 12:30pm yesterday so I am going to write about it now instead and then do another blog post about today a bit later.

Yesterday me, Dad and Euan went to the place where we climbed the mountain because they have a high ropes course there. It was really fun and I mannaged to do all the blue course and i got half way through the red one but I had to get down; I don't mind. We then did the tubing where you have to sit in a ring and slide down a slope and then went on the scooters.

In the evening we went to a firework display. I really enjoyed it and some of the fireworks were spectacualar. Before we had a pinani and a nutella crape which was really nice. Neve :)

The lake

Hello again! Today we went to a lake and it was so hot that all of us went for a swim. There was a diving board that me, dad and Euan all jumped off. Me and Euan were really scared so we made Dad go first an then Euan went and then I went. I screemed all the way and didn't do it again but I am really glad I did it! Euan loved it and did it again and again while me and Dad swam and watched from the side. We then had an ice-cream which we really enjoyed. We had a fab day
and an't wait for tomorrow. Neve :)

A walk up the mountins

Hi. Sorry I am having to write this the day after we did it but as you can imagine I was very tired when we got back yesterday from climbing the mountain!

It was my idea to walk up a mountain because I remember the wonderful feeling we got when we got to the top of the mountain in Switzerland. This mountain was a lot steeper and harder but again when we got to the top we all felt really good and were looking forward to the down hill walk the way back. Unfortunately when we started to walk back I slipped on a stone and hurt my foot but it stopped hurting after a while and all I could think was that it was better than walking up the mountain!

First day in France and the house!

Hello again! I am so glad I will be able to share our holiday with you again via the blog. I have loved doing it over the past years and I am glad that you like it aswel.

First of all I am going to share with you some of the pictures of the house we are staying in:






(You may think it is weird to just take a picture of a cupboard but that is actually the way to get to mine and Euan's room!)

I don't know if you remember but when we were in Switzerland we went to a lido and today we have found another outdoor swimming pool which was incredibly nice because we were all hot and sweaty from the bike ride there. It was very nice and the water was cold but nice. We then went to a supermarket to get some food and as we came out we could see the mountains ahead of us. It has been hot here so hopefully when we get back we will have a nice sun tan but we will not be burnt.

Tomorrow we are going to have a walk in the mountains and probabally have a picnic wich will be nice if the weather carries on as it is. Thak you! Neve :)

Last day

Hello.

Today we went to Fur island as I said and we had a lovely time. We caught the ferry across and then we went to get a pancake but unfortunately because Easter/the tourist time is now over they were closed but the man there kindly gave us both a fossil that was aproximatly 50 million years old. Then we went to the Fur museum where we saw some really amazing fossils which inspired us to go fossil hunting again (whether they will come back home not damaged is another story!) where we found lots more fossils. Then we went to try and get something from a cafe but again that was shut. We then went to a beach for a little while where I went for a paddle in the freezing water and then buried my feet. Finally we went to the pub we like where me and Euan had a diet coke and Mum and Dad had a beer that were all made from the local brewery. It was very special for me because the last time we went there it was before Easter so I couldn't have a fizzy drink (because I gave them up for lent) so I could only have the orange juice from the local brewery. All in all we had yet another super day.

Now it is the time when I have to say that this is the last blog post. It has been lovely writing it again and I will hopefully be able to write it again on our next house exchange wherever that might be. I will not have time to write one tomorrow as I have got to get up at 6:30am to catch the flight. We have all had a lovely holliday and for me one of the best bits has been receiving your comments. Thank you ! :)

Yesterday - Clashing waves and a change of plan

Hello again! I am just going to do a blog post about yestereday as we got back quite late so I did not have enough time.

In my blog post before I said we were going to go to Denmarks largest city, well we had a change in plan. First of all I got it wrong because Copenhagen is the largest city and then we went to the fourth largest city however; because it was a bank holiday almost everything was shut including the cathedral and it was not as big as we thought. So then we decided to go to the very tip of Denmark/Jutland to where the waves from the North and Baltic sea clash. We have some really nice photos and the beach there was lovely and sandy. (I cannot get pictures on the blog as we have not brought the cables so I will show you them when I next see you.) Then we had, yes you guessed it, yet another ice-cream!!! Finally we had the long journey back home which included taking a short ferry. All together we had another nice day.

I will hopefully write another blog post later about what we are doing today (going to Fur island).

Beach

Just a quick one as I did one earlier.

Today we went to a beach as I said before (we cycled there). Me and Euan had a sand fight so we were very sandy and wet by the end. Then we dried off and got the clothes that were dry back on. Then we went for another short bike ride to a cafe where we had yet another ice cream. We have all had a lovely day and tomorrow we are going to Denmark's largest city.

Yesterday - Canoeing

Hello. I didn't do the blog yesterday so I thought I would tell you about it today as we had a great time.

First of all though Happy Easter! :) This morning me and Euan have had an Easter egg hunt and I have had some Diet Coke because I gave up fizzy drinks for lent. I almost managed to do it I just forgot one time. Whoops! :)

Yesterday we went canoeing. We had read about it in our guide book and what you were supposed to do is canoe to a mountain (or so we thought) and then canoe back. Unfortunately we could not find the mountain which was really only a hill but we still had a great time. Me and Mum went in a canoe together and Dad and Euan went in another. My favourite part was when we had to dock the canoes because it was quite hard but fun to try and work it out. We had about a 4 hour canoe trip all together but I think we would all agree that was quite enough. It was a lot harder going up-stream than down-stream so on the way back it took half the time. Me and Mum found it hard to steer and to not keep having rests and relaxing! In the end Mum spotted a big boat comming behind us so we decided to steer towards a tree but not go into it. But as you can probabally guess we ended up in the tree with green stuff on my clothes failing to steer out of it. I don't think the people that were on the boat thought we were experts!

Today we are going to cycle to a beach and just relax.

Fur Island

Hello, I have luckily mannaged to fit in another blog post as I have a bit of spare time.

Today it has been the hottest day yet but I hear not as hot as at home! I have a nice tan and even a white mark where my watch was! We went to Fur Island today (where you have to catch a ferry to get to it from where we are) and took our bikes with us. We were trying to find a nice beach but we couldn't find it so we went back to have another goat finding it. However, I mannaged to get a puncture on the bike we were borowing so me and Dad had to walk back to a cafe whilst Mum and Euan cycled. It took us about 50 minutes but it was not bad as I thought and did not take as long because I mannaged to cycle the last bit. Me and Euan had a paddle in the sea after having another ice cream at the cafe. We then went to a nice pub on Fur and me and Euan had a good play in a park near by. We then caught the ferry back and went for a quick drink in a pub very near to us.

P.S. I am now hireing a bike for the rest of the holliday from tourist information. We decided to keep the other bike with the lovely lady at tourist information and we will collect it at the end of the holliday when we return the hired bike.

Denmark

Hello,

I am going to start doing the blog whilst we are in Denmark but maybe not every night.

Today we went to a museum about the bunkers in the WWII in Denmark. It was very interesting and we even got to go in a bunker and see where they slept and how they survived. We also saw where the main big gun used to be. In the World War the Germans came into Denmark and together they made a "wall" to make sure they didn't get invaded. This "wall" started in Spain and went all across France, Denmark. This part of Denmark did not get invaded though.

We then went for a bit of a walk where we went in some bunkers which had not been preserved and had a look round. We even saw some German grafiti from the war!

Finally we went to a beach which was well known for wind surfing but there were not very many waves but some people were trying to surf. Then we had an ice cream which was a lovely way to end the day.

In Denmark it has been quite hot so we will hopefully be comming back with a tan. We are staying in a lovely house and we have been going to an island very near to us on a ferry that only takes about 5 minutes. We are having a lovely time and enjoying ourselves thouroughly.
