Hello,
Yesterday we got back quite late so we did not have time to post. We had a very long journey which took us about 12 hours! We went on tthe Euro Tunnel which only took about 30 minutes and it felt very strange getting off the train and being in France. When we were driving to the flat we got our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower! We couldn't believe how big and wonderful it was! In the flat there is a room where you can see the Eiffel Tower as well. We still hadn't eaten by the time we got back so we found a resturant to eat in where we could see the Eiffel Tower all lit up! It was amazing!
We did not have much of a fun journey down but I think it was worth it because the Eiffel Tower looked amazing and the food in the resturant was lovely. The best thing was when the Eiffel Tower lit up and the walk to it was lovely too.
Today we had an amazing day. We decided that we wanted to get a feel for Paris, so we took the bikes out and saw some of the main sights. It is quite quiet on a Sunday so the roads were not too busy. We saw the Eiffel Tower, The Arc De Triumphe (and cycled up the Champs-Élysées) and The Notre Dame. We are going to come back to these places another day but we just wanted to find out where they are. We had an fantastic but tiring day which was completed with an ice-cream and picnic!
I agree; it was an amazing day making up for yesterday! The best part was when we went to the Eiffel Tower! At the end of the Champs-Élysées(the last part of the tour de France, leading up to the Arc De Triumphe) we pretended to be Mark Cavendish (A British cyclist).

The day was great, hope the rest are just as good :) Euan xx

I have been really looking forward to this blog post because I was so excited just as you are when I first saw Paris. There is so much to see and do there and the Eiffel Tower does look great when lit up. Looks like the start of another brilliant holiday. Can't remember trying the ice-cream but I'm sure it was good. Have a great day tommorrow, I will enjoy reading about it. love Grandma & Grandpa xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Neve and Euan - didn't know that you were going to blog again so it was a lovely surprise. Sorry didn't reply sooner but had AJ here and you know how we natter! Sounds like you've had a great first day and how lucky to be out on your bikes to explore when the roads are closed to traffic. We've been to Paris many times over the years, but our first was on our honeymoon! The local newspaper the "Watford Observer" had a wedding photo of us and above in bold letters "Honeymooning in Paris!". How lucky you are to be sightseeing in Paris at ages 14 and 9 - where will you be I wonder on your honeymoon!! Have a great time. Look forward to hearing of your adventures when you have time. Lots of love N & G xx
